The use of links

Gringa Loca

My husband and I have an on-going debate about the use of links on his
web site. I am doing the construction in FrontPage 2002, and we have a
left-handed column for various links.

The question pertains specifically to links to comments from readers.
We both agree that the comments should be posted on a separate page, of
course. And he intends to edit the comments rather than permit just
any post.

We have a left-hand column of links for the various pages as well as
one that will be for the comments page. It is my opinion that there
should be some sort of way for a responder to go directly to his/her
link (either on the home page or on the comments page) or to be able to
refer someone else to it. It is my husband's opinion that it is
sufficient to have a page for comments listed with the most recent on
top and the that the reader should simply scan through to find the
desired text.

You can see our site in its infancy at http://www.blogitoergosum.net if
you like. Your opinions will be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.

If your site is busy, you could be getting comments from hundreds of
users - that is a lot of links to place on any page - and as each user
may post multiple comments, do you need a link for each comment?

I would place the comments as per your husbands suggestion - latest at
the top of the page, and allow the readers to search for their own.
