Once the product is really finished (relatively bug free and usable)
everybody buys one and you are promptly out of business.
Unless you can convince people that there is some reason
they should buy the next version, or you can come up with
the next new idea that everybody will want.

XP put MS in the finished product bind.

Yeah because XP is perfect, right?

Mike

Certainly not.

IMHO, it's just that Vista is not good enough to replace it. Plus, OS is the
foundation, and I really don't see and think people spending that much time
on OS.

We are reaching to so-called marginal or diminishing return for H/W and S/W
unless there are some innovations for breakthrough use of computers.

Hey, we are still using keyboard, mouse, and drawing board for most of the
jobs, so how fast do we need for our processors?

Innovation is what we really need and don't have now.

My two cents though.

I don't know.

It did what I needed from a PC OS and it was better than earlier
versions.
The only other OS I know well is MVS-OS390-zOS ,so I can't say.

Have you heard of "Table Top Computers" yet?

Sure it is. It's already replaced XP for me.

Of course they don't. People (outside of geeks like us!) don't even know
what an OS is. It comes with they computer they buy. They take it home
and plug it in and there is Windows. Most people don't know the difference
between RAM and hard disk - it's just "memory" to them.

In a few years everyone will be using Vista because it came on the computer
they bought, and XP will become a fond memory like Windows 95.

Mike

I am not geeks :)

Well, maybe it is true but who knows the future for sure?

But as far as I know, MS adjusted its OS sales forecast for 2008, although
the overall sales figure is remained as the same, but sales forecast for
Vista is adjusted downward and upward for XP.

It's very interesting though.

And if the next version is going to be released in 3 years, I think many
people and business will wait.

But it's all our speculations :)

Thanks, pretty cool. In the mean time, I hope voice recognition well mature
enough for "everyone" and for "everything". But it's glad that something is
really undergoing.

I can see laid off workers being escorted off premises yelling...

It's pretty pricey, too, even Frank can't afford that.

You idiot...it's being marketed for restaurants.
My relatives are in that business so pretty good chance I'll get a hands
on demo when they become available.
Hahahah...loser!

Here comes the bragging:

You're a predictable as the tide, Frankie Boy.

LOL! MR BROKEN RECORD projects his failings on others AGAIN!

P.S. Just because I don't believe in a Christian, Jewish, Hindu or
Muslim god, doesn't mean I don't believe in anything. For instance, I
believe in karma that's brought about from the causes I make. With your
lame arse "religion", you believe in miracles which is directly opposed
to cause and effect, science and common sense.

Oh that's the best one yet! You believe in karma and yet you come in
here solely for the purpose of disrupting this ng and spreading your
lies and deceit. You exhibit a persona absent any character or class and
you want us to believe you're concerned about your "karma"? Give me a
break! You're only fooling yourself.
I don't know what your educational background is ( and I don't give a
rats ass) but I'd say that GED ain't working out the way you wanted it to.

With your lame arse "religion", you believe in miracles

Miracles require a person have "faith", that means believing in
something other than yourself. Something you obviously are not capable of.

which is directly opposed
to cause and effect, science and common sense.

"Common sense" ain't very common and be prepared for the day when
science proves God and your delusional beliefs and your life will be
forever changed mr atheist.

Unlike you, I come here to help people. You only post here to lie,
insult and bluster.

No, blind faith doesn't really make my thing swing, you're right. That's
for superstitious fools like you.

More lies, huh? Well, why change now right?
