When trying to Publish from FP2003 to my ISP's server,
the process is failing after about 20 seconds,
returning the following error message:

The server "" timed out. The current request did not
complete successfully.

It has just started doing this for no apparent reason.
Using FP to upload individual files to the ISP works
fine and I can load the ISP copy of the site into FP
with no difficulty, so it seems to be a problem
with the local copy of the site.

Anybody come across this?

Don't think this is the solution -- server extensions
have been reinstalled several times to try to fix the
problem.

Thanks Tom but I just don't think the connection to
the remote server is the issue -- it seems to fail
before it even tries to connect to the remote site.
And all other connection activity to the server is
working fine.

You're not on ntlworld are you?

I have had recurrent intermittent problems with this error over a
period of years when connected (generally to an non-ntl web host)
through ntlworld (a big UK ISP). It took a long time to work out what
was going on, but it eventually became clear that it was (and still
is, occasionally) an ISP-related problem. NTL uses "transparent
caching" to speed up browsing, and it seems that from time to time the
caches fail in a way that fouls up FrontPage. The cure is to
temporarily enable a proxy server (they can give you a choice of
these) until they sort out the transparent caches, which may take them
up to a week or so.

I assume that other ISPs who use this approach may have similar
problems, though it may take you as long to persuade them that they do
as it tooke me to persuade NTL that it was their problem.
