Ok, I just got a new workstation at the office and my computer worked well
enough with the network when I first got it that I could access the server to
dl our regular software. After setting it all up, I moved the computer to my
desk from the prep area, and though I can still access the internet, I can't
access the server so I can't get to any of my work files.

All my settings match other computers on the network, and I tried setting up
a new office network som many times, I can do it in my sleep.

any ideas?

Have you checked to make sure that the network drop you're using is plugged
into the correct hub/switch? Correct/working port on switch?
Are you on a domain, or using a workgroup?
Are you using DHCP?
If you compare an ipconfig /all from your PC to that from a working one,
what do you see?

all my settings are the same - except my ip address and physical address, I
didn't check wit htthe server - I checked with another computer on the
network using ipconfig/all

dhcp is enabled

The network is on a compex router, that is connected to a linksys router
that gives us internet access, or at least that is as it appears to me, the
only connection to the linksys is to the compex router, all the computers are
connected to the compex.
