"The operation failed. An object could not be found" closing .PST

In Outlook 2003, I opened a second .PST file. Now, whenever I try to do
anything with it, I get "The operation failed. An object could not be found."

All I really want to do with it is close it.

Exit Outlook. Rename the .pst file to, say, filename.OLDpst (don't
rename to filename.pstold since some programs parse from the last dot to
accept the first 3 characters). Then load Outlook. It will complain
that it cannot find the .pst file. Since this wasn't its message store
specified for delivering e-mails, it doesn't need to open that
ancilliary message store. You should be able to cancel or escape out of
that "not found" dialog. Thereafter Outlook shouldn't query for that
..pst file or try to load it.

Better is to go into the control panel, mail applet and remove the pst from
the profile. If the pst is not listed, the profile is goofy and the tools at
the bottom of http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/ghosts.htm might help.
Otherwise, a new profile is needed.
