The Network Address Translator (NAT) - Win2000PRO

Hello, I run Win2000 professional and have another pc
sharing the dial up internet connection. I am getting the
error message in the event log...
The Network Address Translator (NAT) was unable to request
an operation of the kernel-mode translation module. This
may indicate misconfiguration, insufficient resources, or
an internal error. The data is the error code.

Microsoft states that this is a Win2000 server issue??

This problem can occur if your NAT address pool is
configured so that the start address is the same as the
end address and the mask is 255.255.255.255, for example:
Start address: 1.1.1.1 Mask: 255.255.255.255 End address:
1.1.1.1 RESOLUTION To resolve this problem, change the
mask of the address pool to the subnet mask that the
external network uses.

When you use Win 2000 Pro to share the Internet (ICS)
then nake sure your other PC is set to obtain IP address
automatically.

NAT is better and more configuration then ICS and it is
available for Server version only.

Are you set the other PC with static IP and gateway with
your Win 2000 Pro? If like this it will try to do NAT and
that why you get this error message!
