The Memory Could Not Be Written Error.....spoolsv.exe

Each time I try to log into Windows XP I get the following message: The
instruction at "0x77ef4aa8" referenced memory at "0x774e97c8". The memory
could not be "written". Click on OK to terminate the program. Click on
CANCEL to debug the program.

I get the same message when I try to boot into safe mode. I have tried to
restore to last known good configuration and ran a chskdsk via the recovery
console. When I click OK to terminate the program it behaves as if windows
will start but I end up getting the error message about 2 minutes later. Any
ideas before I have format the drive and reinstall windows?

it happened all of a sudden. the last thing i remembered doing on the laptop
was burn a music cd. that whole process went about normally. i turn on
laptop a couple of days later and it went into check disk replacing bad
clusters. that took 4-6 hours which i didnt think was normal. next time i
booted up i received the spoolsv.exe error message.

Did this happen all of a sudden? OR, after you've installed some generic
ram?

"check disk replacing bad clusters. that took 4-6 hours which i didnt think

back up your files now!!

get a HD utility from the mfr of your HD and run to check for errors ...

the problems you are having now are probably a result of missing data due to
HD problems...
