The list of file extensions recommended to include for an on demand scan

J

Juan I. Cahis

Dear friends:

Most of the Antivirus products, when they do an on demand scan, they
check only the files with predefined extensions which are contained in
a "default list".

Is there a "consent" of the default list of the predefined file
extensions that they should be checked in an on demand scan?

Where can I get a copy of this "commonly accepted default list" in
order to compare it with the list of my Antivirus product?

Thanks

Plus files with no extensions.
Those with the "?" are wildcards and means any char in that place.

For the *best* capability of detection, an "On Demand" scan should include ALL file types.

Thank you very much, David.

The problem of checking all the files during an On Demand Scan is the
time it takes. In my opinion, if the On Demand Scan takes too long to
perform (more than six hours, for example), the user tends to use it
very seldom, and if you can shorten significantly the time it takes
using a selective Scan, the user will use it more often.

Make it a selective "On Demand" scan where the likelyhood of an infector would be the
greatest.
