Windows XP C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DLLCACHE folder

J

Juan I. Cahis

Dear friends:

When I run my Antivirus check, the check process goes very slow when
checking the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DLLCACHE folder, taking more than one
hour on it. It seems that, apparently, Windows protects the contents
of this folder.

But I understand that all the files in that folder are also included
in other folders of the C:\WINDOWS folder, aren't they? So, if I
exclude the checking of the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DLLCACHE folder, it
would be not a big issue, is that true?

Any hint?

Thanks

Retail or enterprise ?

What version (include Engine and DAT revision) ?

Is this during an "On Demand" scan or what ?

Dear David, my question is, if it is safe, during an "On Demand" scan,
to exclude the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DLLCACHE folder.

Please note that never, during an "On Demand" scan, I have found a
virus in my computer.

Never say never it last forever :)

You could exclude it but... its not the best idea.
However, I have never seen a file to be infected in the DLL cache but that doesn't mean it
can't/won't happen.
