the @ key

i've just gotten a new laptop which has XP home edition SP2 installed. when i
hit shift and the ' key together to get the @ symbol, i get this ". and when
i press shift and 2 i get the @ symbol. is there any way to change it back
its getting annoying

You need to change your keyboard from English USA to whatever language
you want it to be. Control Panel/Regional and Language Options.

Check your input method & language under the Control Panel's
Regional and Language Options. It sounds like you're using the wrong
version of English for your location.

Those of us here in the US think that that's correct. <g>

You're running with US keyboard settings and you apparently want UK
settings. To change it, go to Start | Settings | Control Panel | Regional
and Language Options. Change it on the Regional Options tab.
 
thanks you........ i have just discovered this page i am new to computers
but i had the same problem with@ key thanks to all of you i just changed
settings and used the proper keys
