The idea for embedded devices

Does anybody know who first came up with the idea
for "Embedded devices"?

My guess is that it was conceived after clients asked Microsoft for a cheaper, smaller, configurable, reliable, task-specific OS
The key word there being cheaper

AS far as i see through it there is nothing called Embedded findings
as Non embedded as i see is the least embeddeding and the embedded is
the most embedding .( like every wrong is the least of good ).
