Here's one in the eye for all of you who insist things were better in the old days.

Road deaths 2006: 3000
Road deaths 1931: 7000

And in 1931 there were only 2.3 million vehicles on UK roads.

So next time grandpa tells you things were better in his day and that they were a more responsible generation, you can tell him he's talking turkey :p

Trainers hadn't been invented in 1931 and people were not so athletic so gaining bonnet mascots was a lot easier . Have you tried running a pedestrian down lately , its harder than some pc games . Thats why they invented 4x4 's . Didn't help though . Bonnet mascot collectors are as rare as big game hunters these days . Shame really , I miss the good old days . Oh well never mind at least I've got the Half Life series to look forward to .
