The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load

Can anyone help with the following system error reported in Event Viewer? I
am running Windows XP SP2. Windows is not properly loading cdr4_xp.sys
which I believe is making my system unstable -- I sometimes get an
unexpected Windows stop error, otherwise known as a "blue screen system
crash." Even though Windows reports the driver is not loaded, Windows is
still able to recognize the CD-ROM device. I already checked to make sure
the system file is located in the path "C:\windows\system32\drivers" and it
is there and the file is fine (not corrupt and no hidden virus). Microsoft
does not have any knowledge base articles about this problem but it is well
documented among Windows users on the Internet who have installed an older
version of Roxio Easy CD Creator. I do not have this software installed on
my system and I never had it. I already checked KB article 315345 on this
issue.

I am not sure, but I think all I need to do to fix this problem is find the
corrupt registry key but I don't know which one to fix.

Thank you for any solution you have to this problem.
