The Evil Symantec Program

I have an eMachines PC that came with bundled Norton Internet Security. I
want to remove this set of programs.

I uninstalled it and then my Winxp tray (lower right of screen) would not
work....the programs were not there, and my internet connection would not
work. I had to reinstall my whole system.

Any suggestions for removing Norton Internet Security????

Symantec have removal tool on their web site that removes most of the
mess, but you may still have to either grub out several entries in
the registry manually - or live with them.
Next get decent AV and firewall programs, I can recommend F-PROT and
Zone Alarm, others will have their favourites.

Hello , Add and Remove programs . I have uninstalled Norton Internet Security
from there many times succesfully . Norton is listed as its own item . This
removed Norton from startup menu also . Use "Search" to , after removing is
complete . ''Norton" , However , bundled ... hmmm , did the bundle package
come with its own hard copy ? Insert the A/V CD and load all features . Then
try and remove . That version of Norton does not have an "uninstall" to
select . Someone will probably post an HKEY_ type path and view if Norton's
folder is in there after removing . Your post read you have removed "this" ?
set of programs ... I believe you refered to Norton only ?

Which version?Visit the manufacturer's website and look for a proper
uninstallation method.

Use Add or Remove Programs in the control panel. Remove NIS first. If Live
Reg is still there after it reboots remove that and reboot again. If Live
Update is still there then remove it and reboot. If you still have problems
navigate through the maze at Symantec support and find the removal program
specific to the version of NIS you have.
