I understand alot about some things, but feel totally
stupid on others. I keep getting this error when I
attempt to use my HP burner. Since I get this msg. when
I start it, does this mean that I have to replace the
item?

That is what I had to do with an HP CD/RW that I received the bad block error message on. There were 5 days left on its warranty, now that 1 went bad too.
