I have one of my networked computers that is now
receiving the message "The current time on this computer
and the current time on the server are not the same"
error message and not letting the computer logon. How is
this fixed and what security purpose does it serve anyway.

Time syc is very important in Windows 2000 and Windows 2003. This is
because Kerberos utilizes the time sync to prevent network attacks such as
"man in the middle" and replay attacks.

If this error continues to occur you may want to setup an Authoritative
time server.
