The best graphics card

hello

this is my first thread in google groups, and i was hoping to get some
help about the 2 leading graphics cards, the ATI Radeon 9800 pro, and
the geforce FX 5900 ultra.

well what i need to know is, which one is better to buy??(i know its
the most common question these days, and i appologize for that) i was
thinking about buying the ATI 9800 pro, but i don't know which company
makes the best, i read some threads saying that Sapphire makes the
best Ati's in the market, and MSI and ASUS are the best in Geforce fx,
but i still need some more guidance from u experts, as the money i'm
going to spend on these lovely toys is a bit precious(60 hours of part
time work promoting and selling some stupid water filters for a
retarded company i don't want to mention).

thanx in advance to all..

yours

To start, these aren't Google groups, this is usenet. And cross-posting
between ATI and Nvidia groups is almost guaranteed to start a ruckus.

There are some excellent reviews and comparisons at www.hardocp.com,
www.anandtech.com, www.tomshardware.com and www.digit-life.com. The latter
will absolutely bury you in benchmarks comparing these two cards.

Performance is not that far apart, but ATI currently holds the eye candy
advantage with faster Anti-Aliasing (no jaggies) and Anisotropic Filtering
(sharper detail.)

Drivers are a minefield, with both sides claiming the other cheats on
benchmarks and neither getting out all the bugs.

Sapphire does generally offer the same hardware and performance as the
ATI-branded cards for less money. I have used several and think they're a
good deal.

If you want to save even more money, consider a 9800 non-pro (not the
crippled SE) overclocked to Pro speeds. Visit the tweak forum at
www.rage3d.com for details.

i read afew various reviews on both cards and i think there conclusion was
that the ati 9800 pro comes out on top slightly.

Also, the 9800xt will be a bit faster than the 9800 pro. Although, you could
always get a 9800 pro and overclock to pro speeds like I did with my
sapphire

FYI usenet can be accessed through Google Groups, so as far as this
individual may know, he is using Gogole Groups.
