the B: drive

so whats the deal with it?
is it gone for good?
is it going to be used for something else?
If I install a DVD, can I use it thru the B: drive?
It seems 1.44mb A: floppies are disappearing as well.
With Syquest, JAZ and ZIP gone, and LS-120, Orb and Shark not popular,
the only external media left seems to be CD-R and now the DVD.
