I have a new computer running a clean OEM copy of WinXP
home. When attempting to send faxes we are having
problems. We have tried sending using two modems to two
different fax numbers. Specifically, we can hear the
modem dial the number. The remote fax answers, and plays
its initialization whistiling noise. A single little
bleep is heard, and the modem goes on hook.
The event log has the following:
The attempt to send the fax failed. There was no answer.
The service will attempt to resend the fax. Sender:
Harleys Educational Supplies. Billing code: . Sender
company: Harleys Educational Supplies. Sender dept: .
Recipient name: Harleys Educational Supplies Accounts
Dept.. Recipient number: 0740533661. Device name: NetComm
Roadster 336 PnP ( AM3460 ).

Here you can see the different modems tried. I also tried
the standard 336 driver with both modems with no success.
Both modems are known good. Both receiving faxes are
known good. This must be an XP problem. Is it possible
that it has something to do with the fact we are running
through a PABX? Note that the Windows 98 PC running
Microsoft Fax worked perfect using the Netcomm modem and
using the same phone line. Is it possibly because the
dialling properties aren't US based? We are in Australia.
Remember that we can hear the remote fax answer, and play
its initialization tone.
Here is the most recently tested modems log.
If there is no quick and obvious fix for this problem
please note as such as time is critical. ( I have already
tried to Google for solutions)
