The problem is that half of the particulrs on Advance Tab on the Local Area
Network Connection Properties has gone somewhere. When I right click on the
Local Area Network Icon, then click on properties and and the click on the
Advance tab, there is only about information about Widows firewall and the
options regarding Internet Connection Sharing to give network clients
permission to control the shared Internet connection, is missing.

How I can bring back these options?

Thanks.

Shahid

there are only those two items in the advanced tab. What else are you
looking for????

Robert...

I can see option regarding "Windows Firewall" only. Remaining potion of the
Advance Tab is blank. The option regarding "Internet Connection Sharing to
give network clients permission to control the shared Internet connection" is
not there. Previously, the option was there. But after installing a DSL
connection, this option has GONE.

Greetings Shahid,

The ICS option only appears when there is two network connections. One for
the Internet connection and the other one for the network connection. The
Internet connection may be dialup or cable/dsl connection. The network
connection can either be wired or a wireless connection. The two connections
must also be enabled. If the other one is disabled then it will not appear,
or if you are not logged onto a administrator account. For more details, see

Eric,

Thanks very much for your help but it did not solve the problem. I think I
can't explain the problem properly. Let me try to explain it once more. I
have two computers at home, one is IBM Desktop and the other is IBM Thinkpad.
Both running Windows XP Professional with SP2. I conencted both of them
through a D-Link switch. Previously I had Dial-up Connection connected to the
modem in my Desktop computer and i share the connection with my PC and
notebook at the same time. Then recently I switched over to DSL connection. I
installed the CD provided by ISP on both the computers. Now when I wished to
share the internet connection i found that the option through which we can
allow shareing of internet connection on the "ADVANCE TAB" is missing. I
think that this option is intentionally switched off by the installation
software for the DSL conection provided by ISP. I just want to now is it
possible to switch off this option using any command, policy settings,
rights, or previleges etc.

I just want to know which command or procedure is used to disable ICS on the
Advance Tab.

Thanks for the help.

Shahid
