Textbox problem - text changes font size inside the box randomly ?

We have powerpoint 2007 with all updates and service packs.

I have a problem and have not been able to fix it.

I'll create a new presentation, then create a textbox. I'll start typing
inside the box and the textbox works as designed.

After I save the powerpoint or close and reopen, then try to type in a
textbox, there sometimes is a problem. When typing in the textbox, the font
will increase several sizes? Seems like there is no rhyme or reason why this
happens. I'll start typing and all of a sudden the font starts showing a
huge font, not the whole text but maybe after I hit the spacebar maybe.

It's so annoying and I don't know how to fix.

I've already turned off the "auto correct option", "auto format as you type"
and we still seem to have this problem.

Has anyone seen this?

Here is my version: powerpoint 2007 (12.0.6504.5000) SP2 MSO (12.0.6425.1000)

Thank you for any help!

We had a similar file at our organization. The issue seems to be (at least in our case) whomever created the file made it so that any new text created in a text box was set to be a "subscript". After a number of characters were typed, the font would suddenly revert and not be a subscript anymore. When all the text was selected and had the subscript format turned off, the issue went away
