Click on the "showbox" on the bottom menu bar
Click on the downward pointing arrow on the right hand side of the resulting
menu
Change "Shadow Color" setting

(this works for PPT 2002)

Pdek's advice works well if you want to change the text shadow for some
isolated text on a slide.

If you want more control, you'll have to change the Shadow color in the
Color Schemes.

Here's more info on Color Schemes. The first link shows how to create Color
Schemes and the second link explains how to apply them.

Pete, what do you mean by "showbox" on the bottom menu bar? I've tried a few
candidates but none opened a Shadow Color option. Thanks for your help.

CattoAJ, if your Drawing toolbar is not visible, choose View | Toolbars |
Drawing to make it visible. This command is a toggle option.

On the Drawing toolbar, the "Shadow Style" icon is the second last. Open it
to reveal a small flyout menu that contains an option called "Shadow
Settings". Click that option to launch the Shadow Settings toolbar. You need
the last icon on this toolbar to change the color.

Select your text box, not the text itself. Click on the Shadow Styles icon at
the bottom of your window. There you can select a style (left, right, bottom,
top, etc.) and you can click on Shadow Settings. That gives you a small
floating tool bar that lets you modify the color, move the shadow closer to the
text, etc.
