Text Problem

I'm having alittle problem putting text on my videos.
Everytime I type something on either...

Title At The Beginning
Title Before The Selected Clip
Title On The Selected Clip
Title After The Selected Clip
Credits At The End

....I keep getting just a gray screen. I even tried
changing the background color and the font color, and
nothing. I don't know why the Titles won't come on. I've
search everywhere for the answer and nothing. So can
anyone please help me a.s.a.p?
