Text in Word

I often copy and paste information to a textured background. I need the text
white background to be transparent against the colored textured BG. Most of
the time I just get the text and not the white BG, but sometimes, I cannot
separate the text from the white BG. Can you tell me how to make the white
BG transparent so one sees only the text over the original textured BG? I
cannot find such a setting. TIA!

Text in Word doesn't carry any background formatting with it unless it is
shaded or in a table, text box, or frame. If it is shaded you need to turn
the shading off. If it is in a table, text box, or frame, you need to select
the text without the container when copying.

Which version of Word are you using?

If the text is in a text box, go to the Colors and Lines tab of Format Text
Box and set the fill to No Fill.

I'm using Windows and Office XP.
Sometimes I find and copy a better movie synopsis than the one I have from
WebPages like Amazon that I place on my Jewel Case inserts describing the
movie DVDs from my personal library. Occasionally, the copied text comes
with a white rectangle BG which I can't seem to lose when I paste it in the
Text box over the BG text box. I want the BG to be consistent. Of course, if
I delete it and type the synopsis in with my keyboard all is well and
everything is consistent....but it sure wastes a lot of time.

Thank you Suzanne and Charles for your suggestions. I hope you can
understand what I seem to be having a hard time trying to explain.

Best regards,
Bill

Billybob, can you provide a specific example of text you've copied from,
say, Amazon.com that has the white background when you paste it? Just gimme
a movie title.

In the meantime, you might try using the Paste Special command to paste the
information as unformatted text.

Hi, DDM! Right now I can't think of an example. I'm in the midst of
transferring about 1500 VHS - DVD movies from my personal video library and
it's been about 2 weeks since it happened. It's not that big a deal. I just
thought there was a transparent setting somewhere that I had missed. I do
get a lot of synopsis from Amazon and Netflix, but sometimes other places.
It's a hobby that I have thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you for your response
and willingness to help. I visited your website and I like it a lot. I
bookmarked it. Great job!

Best regards,
Bill
