text font reverts to Times N R when reusing slides from P.Point 20

I use powerpoint to project hymns and choruses at my local church. I am not
a very advanced user and had simply created folders in office 2003 containing
a presentation for each song. Each presentation is saved with a black
background and white arial font in size 32 or 36 font. To create the
presentation for each Sunday i would simply open the presentation for the
first song, resave with an appropriate title and then insert slides from
file. this always worked fine.

I have now installed office 2007. When I went to create this Sundays
presentation using the 'reuse slides' function I found that while the
imported slides kept the black background the text reverted to Times New
Roman in black with 24 font. I did click 'retain source formatting' before
importing but it made no difference.

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong and how I might fix it. I haven't
designated any slides as master ( I don't know anything about this) Also is
there any way I can create a template slide which defaults to a black
background with a text box with white arial font size 36.

This is unusual, so I'm not sure what would be causing such a font change to
happen. I might expect it if you were using uncommon fonts, but with Arial,
I wouldn't expect it at all. Could you send a couple of sample presentations
so I can try it out here and see what the problem is? Please include a
reminder of the problem -- you can even just copy your original post into
the email message if you wish. Send to echos at indy dot net

In PPT 2007 or 2003?

Also isWe use pp2003 - is it possible to change the default font (arial) to another
font (vietnamese) so we don't have to change it every time we restart pp2003.
Thanks in adavance.

Create a default "blank" presentation with your own defaults
http://www.pptfaq.com/FAQ00245.htm

You might also want to set your keyboard settings to Vietnamese in Windows
Control Panel.

You'll probably want to change the language ID of all the textboxes and
placeholders. http://support.microsoft.com/?id=245468 for instrux.

And finally, you'll want to create a default "manual" textbox with the
appropriate font. Click the textbox icon on the Drawing toolbar, click on
the slide, type some text and format it in the font face, size, color you
want. Then right-click and choose "set Autoshapes defaults."

Because the textbox default won't pick up a line or fill, your actual
autoshapes will now have no line or fill. So you'll want to do the same
steps with a rectangle or oval on the Drawing toolbar -- click the icon,
click the slide, format the shape the way you want with a line and fill,
then right-click and "Set Autoshape Defaults" again.

Now you can save your template.
