text display on rollover

I want text to display when cursor is rolled over a hotspot and to disappear
when cursor is rolled away from hotspot.
Prefer text to be outside of hotspot area and to be able to edit colour etc.
I am using frontpage 2003.

Iam not sure how to do this and I have been going through the help files to
no avail.
Can some one help.
Thanks

From your reference to 'hotspots' I assume you are using an image map.

The simple way would be to use the 'title' attribute of the map area,
although this doesn't allow you to alter the colour etc. (Note that if you
have an alt tag for the hotspot this will over-ride the title, so remove
it).

Right-click the hotspot and select 'Picture Hotspot Properties' then select
'Tooltip' and enter your text.

If you want to alter the colour you'll need a JavaScript tooltip. The
following links should help.

2 suggestions:
(1) Link the hotspot to a pop-up window using Jimco Spawn (a great
charityware download).
(2) Use FrontPage behaviors to swap images on mouseover and restore the
first image on mouseout. The disadvantage is that the second image will
appear directly over the first, but the advantage is that you can decorate
the image in unlimited ways if you make it in an editor like Paint. Just be
sure to save the new image as a jpg with the same dimensions as the first
image.

Oops, in (2) the image can be either gif or jpg, just not bitmap which is the
default format for Paint. Gif would look better for text than jpg.
