text boxes or autoshapes

Help! I have to use some graphics that have embedded text.
I've always simply placed a white text box or autoshape
over the text as anbother layer. For some reason, every
time I create a box, it automatically throws in a black
border on the bottom and right side. I've tried
everything. All settings say no borders. Even the LINE
aotoshape does it. What's up? I'm using PPT XP

Probably, you've set your default AutoShape to include a shadow - format it
to remove the shadow, right-click the AutoShape and choose the Format
option - this should open the dialog box that allows you to create a new
default.

DebL,
It sounds as if you applied a shadow to your boxes and made it your default.
Try this, make a new textbox and see if turning off the shadow helps, use
the drawing toolbar to do this it's the second button from the right I
think. Just apply no shadow.
Now select "Format" - "Autoshape or textbox" and check the box the make
these settings your default settings, the checkbox should be located near
the bottom of the dialogue. Good luck, if this doesn't help then maybe
someone else will step in.
