text box timing control

I have a text box on a slide. What I want it to do is while a video is
playing, after a couple of seconds have the verbiage in the text box
dissolve in. Have it dissolve out after a few seconds then dissolve in a new
text box.

Here's the problem. I've got the video to play, I have the text boxes
dissolve in when they should with the custom animation. I also checked the
hide after animation so that it would go away when the new one comes in, but
it goes away instantly. Is there more control that I am missing? Or is there
a work around of some sort?

TIA

What version of PowerPoint are you using?

The end of animation is when the dissolve in completes, so that is why it's
hiding. You need to remove the hide after animation and add an exit
animation for the text object. That's why we need to know what version you
are using.

I am running PowerPoint 2000. I suppose I could have a box cover it up after
so many seconds. Unless you know of a different way. :)

Thanks for your help

Yes, in PowerPoint 2000 you would need to do something like that. In
PowerPoint 2002 and 2003 you can use an exit animation.
