text autofit

Hello,

I am trying to use the "text autofit" function. However, even though I have
the box checked under tools/autocorrection for text autofit in body and
title, it does not resize the text. Also, I don't see the text autofit button
on my toolbar.

Can anyone help??

1. Click the Tools menu and select "Options..." from the menu that appears.

2. Click the Edit tab.

3. Check the "Auto-fit text to text placeholder".

4. Click OK.

Thank you, however this doesn't work for me.

I don't have the "Auto-fit text to text placeholder" under the
Tools/Options/Edit.

The only place I have an option is under Tools/Autocorrect/Autoformat as you
type tab in which I checked the "Autofit body text to placeholder" box.

Is there something else I should do?

Hi,
The option will only work if you type enough text in the placeholders, more
than will fit in the box (PPT automatically changes the font size and the
line spacing of the text to accomodate).. When you do a little icon will
appear, it looks like two horizontal lines with two arrows pointing at them.
When you click on it you will have a choice to change the behaviour of the
function or to stop adjusting will you type.
To the best of my knowledge their is no button on any toolbar, and as far as
I know you cannot add it to a toolbar neither.
Hope I interpreted your question correctly if not someone else will put this
right.

Hello,

Thank you also for your response. However, even as I type enough text to
fill up the placeholder, the text is not adjusted to fit the placeholder.
The text will show up outside of that placeholder. And, at no time does the
icon appear. (other autocorrect functions do work and after they occur, an
icon does appear near the change. Only the text autofit function doesn't
work.)

Hi again,
This seems odd behaviour, I have PPT 2003 (Dutch version) here and it works
in the body text placeholder but not in the title placeholder.
Have you updated to SP1 yet?

What version of Powerpoint do you use?

And is the text actually in Body or Title text placeholders? That is, does it
appear in the Outline view? Near as I can tell, AutoFit doesn't apply to
regular text boxes, just placeholders.
