text appears as attachment

I created a file in word that includes text in text boxes, a company logo
(saved as a word file and inserted into the document), and 2 charts copies
inserted as pictures. When I send the word file message to myself, it
arrives with no problem, but there are a series of attachments (about 10)
listed under the subject line. I did not attach any files to this message.
How can you send the message without it arriving with attachments?

And what exactly are those attachments? The pictures you included in the
mail?

You are not providing any info to work with here;
Version of Outlook?
Word or Outlook as the email editor?
Method of inserting the text?
Message format?

It is Outlook 2003, Word as the editor, message format html. I created the
document through Word, so I just typed in the text and then put borders
around the text, with colored shading (fill) inside.
I sent the document from Word, going to the send option (Send To: Mail
Recipient) When I opened the files that were received (but not sent) as
attachments, all of the attachments were just image files (image###.gif), and
they open up and appear as dots or bullet points, except for the logo, which
appeared as a .png file (it is OK for the logo to show up as an attachment).

And when do you see the attachments?
When composing?
After sending in your Sent Items folder?
After sending in the mailbox of the recipient?

Instead of using the Send To option you can also directly click on the
Envelope icon to turn it into an email.

I see the attachments when I open the message in my in-box. I am sending it
to myself. They do not appear in the sent folder

Then they are most likely converted at mail server level or when you receive
the message. If you have a virus scanner that integrates with Outlook,
disable this integration and try again.

I am following this thread because I have a similar problem, i.e. I have
disabled by Virus Protector, I am using Outlook 2003 and Word as my
Editor....when I send an email with a picture Inserted into the Text window
of the Email, the receiver sees it as an Attachment Only. The same result
occurs when I send it to myself. I sometimes receive Emails from others with
a picture in the Text window, so why don't my Email's do the same?

I thought about that and receive many replies in Plain Text but don't know if
they were sent that way or my Protocol is set to receive them that way....can
you help me with how to check my Protocol for Received Messages?

Are all your (external) emails received in Plain Text?
Try sending an HTML formatted message to yourself from a web based mail
account like Hotmail.
When it arrives in HTML format, it gets converted by the person sending you
the reply.
