I just had a few minutes to look 'round, Lucy. There's some fun stuff there.

One thing I found difficult was the lack of capitalization. Or capitalisation.
For just a little bit of text at at time, headlines and such, it's quite
stylish, but for body text, I found it difficult to read.

But perhaps that's just me. And my old, astigmatic eyes. <g>

I could not agree more! Looks very childish without. Not a company I would
consider for a project if I was presented with a brochure like that.

I did find some of the site's materials fun and mildly amusing.

I agree with Steve and no-spam that the lack of capitalization is
disruptive, however, as the site's philosophy is to disrupt the norms of
boring powerpointing, this appears to be a deliberate artistic decision,
e.g., e.e. cummings.

As any artist knows, the decision to challenge convention carries with it a
deal of risk. I agree that many businesses would shrink from using a company
that apparently cannot or chooses not to use capitals. Yet, many other
companies would embrace the unconventional.

It certainly comes down to know your market, and know how to reach your
customer. A criticism of many computer professionals is that we know to speak
the language of the machine, and have forgotten how to communicate with
normal business people. Perhaps, Lucy and her co-workers deliberately chose
to go for a child-like vice childish image. Did they achieve it? Only the
market will tell.

I have been leaning that way myself too - I recently updated all my handouts
to correct grammar in the body text and no capitals in just the headers. I
just updated the powerpoint samples yesterday, not the text but I shall
re-visit it in the next few days.

Thanks for your comments.

The fun element is certainly deliberate - my attitude is that it's who I am
and if you don't like that then we just won't work together well. Also,
Australia is a far less formal society than other places I have lived (I
would use a different approach if based in the UK for example).

I did decide to go with breaking the capitalisation rules deliberately as I
Hate This Obsession People Have With Capitalising Every Word. The thing, it
is turning out to be too hard. So I'm giving in :)

Yes, one of the selling points of my business is that I have some technical
knowledge but I speak english not geek. It's something my clients respond
strongly to.

Your welcome.

I once spent two weeks in Sydney, and had a marvelous time. Your country is
beautiful and the hospitality of your countrymen is known throughout the
world.

As to giving in, if you have the resources, you might maintain two sites,
one site could be staid and conventional, and the other site could embrace
the alternative.
Of course, you will have to have a stable personality to avoid becoming
bi-polar. Ha, Ha.

Australia is indeed beautiful & varied and australians are great - I will be
proud to call them my fellow countrymen when I apply for citizenship next
year (I'm a Brit).

Two sites is an interesting idea but I would find it too confusing - I'm
only a blonde ;-)

I loved the 'cartoon' sample on smartlaw (SmartLaw!).

It get's across a complex thing in a perfect way.

Me myself - like the 'lower case' everything.

lower case will rule the world one day :)

Thanks TAJ! I must admit I was quite pleased with it :) And people just
don't realise you can do that sort of thing - both on the 'powerpoint can do
that?' level and the 'bullet points are what I have to do as that's what
everyone else does' level. They'll learn...
