Protecting a sheet with a list on it

Hi

Excel 2003. I have a spreadsheet and on part of it is a list (data-> list->
create list). When I protect the sheet you can no longer add a new row - that
is the second line in the list with the little blue star disappears. I have
set these cells to be unlocked and allowed adding new rows and selecting
unlocked cells in the protection dialogue - what am I doing wrong?

Hi Lucy

I have just tried to do this with XL2007, by using some VBA code to
allow data entry on part of the sheet using the AllowEditRanges
property.
When trying to enter more data into Table 1, it comes up with the
message
"Cannot use this table functionality on a Protected Worksheet"

Using the same code in XL2003, I get no message, but I cannot add data
to the table.

It would appear therefore, that the only way would be to Unprotect the
sheet>Add Data to Table>Protect Sheet.

(By the way, nice site you have)

Thanks Roger

That's what I feared. Is it just me or is that a bit stoopid? I want people
to be able to add new lines in but not accidentally delete all the info at
the top. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

(awww thanks :) )
