Test my movies please?!

I have two tying demos on my Web site. Some of my users can only hear the audio and can't view the video.
I'm not sure how to solve this problem.

If any of you have time, can you go to the following Web site: http://www.3Senoritas.com and let me know if you can see the video. It seems pointless to keep the tying demos there if no one can see them!

Too bad, such an easy way for people to learn

Thanks a million

My wife could have used your demos last summer when she bought her first
one....

Trina:

I tested your videos at work and they view fine.
However, this is at a university and a fast connection
and my work machine has most recent versions of Real
Player and Windows Media Player.

I've created some clips using Windows Movie Player that
also work fine here at work, but on the computers at home
have the same problem that you report (only sound, no
video). I'm wondering if it is due to having older
versions of Real Player and Windows Media player on those
machines.

I plan to upgrade the machines at home tonight and will
let you know if it made a difference.

Hi Trina.

The problem that you are describing occurs when the user
does not have either Windows Media Player 9 or the WMP 9
codecs installed. Both of your videos are using the
version 9 audio and video codecs and these are required
to view the viedo properly.

You already have a great disclaimer on your site about
getting the update, maybe change it to specify version 9.

This has solved all of the problems that my clients
originally had when I moved up to version 9 and Movie
Maker 2.

Hope that helps.

Video plays fine - looks nice, audio works for me (running XP Pro over a
cable modem)

Start | Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Character Map

This will help you get the "ñ" for Señoritas

You can copy it from there to paste it from Character Map into your Title in
Movie Maker and it will use the character in the title.

Looks funny to me without the accent.

Is it just a series of stills? I get the sound but no moving images.

Trina:

Your clips viewed fine at work.

I saw this behavior on both of my computers at home when
I tried to play .wmv files - but when I installed the
latest versions of Windows Media Player and Real, my WMV
clips played fine on those machines.

It could be that the customers who are having problems do
not have recent versions of the viewers.

A big problem is that most people do not have enough RAM memory to run videos. You need to have at least 512mb of RAM to play properly. It has been my experience that most people do not have over 256mb. Until they these people upgrade they will have problems with most video.

S

Scott M.

Uh, no that's not true. You do not need 512MB of RAM to efficiently watch
movies. Now, I won't argue that more RAM is better, but 256 is perfectly
fine for watching movies.

Now for creating movies, that's another story....

What a pretty fairytale!
That's simply not true and one of the biggest loads of hogwash I have heard
in a LONG time!

Is it better to direct users to download codec 9 VCM (regardless of their version of Media Player)?

Or, if they download to the latest version of Media Player, will they automatically have the right codec to view the movie?

WTF is a "tying demo"?

A demo on tying, what else?
She sells clothing that has to be tied to hold it on, and she is supplying a
demo video
to show her customers how to do it. (an excellent idea Trina)
If you followed the link she supplied you would have seen what they where.

Does this mean that she is not aware of the existence of
buttons and zippers? If the target market is too stupid
to fasten clothing without having to tie it on, how will
a video help?

S

Scott M.

Being the fashion guru that you are, I'm shocked that you would ask such a
question. When was the last time you buttoned or zipperd a tie?!
