terrible sound

If I copy music to windows media player (newest version
10 ) and 9 for that fact, and play it on my pc it sounds
bad but if I play it on my stereo it sounds good . Do I
need more memory ? I still have at least 40 %
 
what is the sound quality like when played from another
source? (cd or download)
