Terminal Services Client

Günter Wirth

Hello,

I would like to create a Thin Client with the Micorsoft Terminal Servies on
a diskless system. After the system starts it should login automatically to
the predefined server. I use the Terminal Services Client and EWF for the
image.

My problems are now:

* How to configure the system the first time (how to set a server to the
client)?
In this case the client don't have any informations about the server

* How to change the server after the server was connected once?
Normally the client connects automatically to the server, how to change that
behaviour to reconfigure the system

My first ideas were to use the boot menu or to create two different users.
Or could I setup the client system by remote access?

Has anybody experience on this field?

Best regards,
Günter

Günter,

I am not really sure I understand your issues.

What *login* you mentioned? In a user account (local or domain)? Then setup
Winlogon setting in TD (+Autologon if needed).

If you RDP from client to a server and you want to automate this, you can
always create an RDP file(s) to any server and with any parametrs you
prefer. Or start mstsc.exe with a command line arguments specifing the
server, etc.

Gunter,

You are first going to have to configure your image on a system
running with a disk. It will have run through the FBA process before
you can deploy in a diskless environment. After it runs through FBA
you can then configure your TS session, set to autologin on boot,
reseal the image and the prepare for diskless deployment.

Bob,

after setting a Terminal Service Server to the client, how can I
or my customer change that settings later on with the
active autologin flag?

Gunter,

Are you looking for Autologon with specific user authentication? Or
are you just tryin to be auto start the logon process so that the
logon screen comes up for the user? Also, are you using Remote Boot
for the diskless image or something else?

Thx-

Bob,

My idea was to set the Windows Terminal Services Client as Shell (mstsc.exe)
on my embedded system. In this case the user can use the dialog from
mstsc.exe to log in. If the user set the autologon flag, the computer starts
and connect to the server without any additional user action.

There are two problems:
1) I use a Compact Flash for the image (with EWF), how can I (my user) store
the settings to the Compact Flash. The problem is that I have only the
Windows Terminal Services Client as Shell.

2) If the user want to change the server settings and the autologon flag is
active, how to call the dialog with the settings again?

Regards,
Günter
