Terminal Server Licensing Issues

K

Ken

We have three term servers running in app mode with one
licensing server on our 2k domain controller, we have 60
Wyse Winterms in the guests rooms to provide internet
connection. First 60 terminals installed along time ago
are ok on licensing. Purchased additional licensing for a
new set and installed on licensing server (total 80
available). When the winterms come on line some of the
devices are getting a temp license and others are getting
a perm license.

I have seen a few reg enteries about pointing to one
licensing server but not sure if that really applies since
we only have one DC issuing licenses.

Any tips or help?!! Thanks! Ken ([email protected])

Make sure those Winterms have the latest and greatest
firmware available. Some older firmware versions didn't
retains the TSCAL token properly, and thus always were
issued a temporary TSCAL.

I will double check (make sure there is not a patch for
the winterm), but yes it is the latest and greatest
firmware.

Well...which Winterm do you have and what firmware do you
have loaded on it? I'm very familiar with those Wyse
products.

We have the winterm 3235LE. Not at work right now, so not
sure what firmware they have but..they are new out of the
box (not that it matters!). Will check on Mon when I get
in. But, some of these clients are grabbing the proper
client while others are not.

Matthew,

Hi, these are Winterm 3225LE using version 4.1 (build
486.4) running Windows CE 4.1. Appreciate any help you
can give me on this!

There is a newer build out. I'm running a few of those
3235s and they are running the 486.7.1 firmware. You
might want to call Wyse to get a newer version.

If and when you do get the new firmware, be sure to
completely reset your unit to factory defaults to make
sure that all licenses are reset.

I am fairly new to the WinTerms so just wondering if there
was a managemnt tool that could be used to push a new
firmware out. We have close to 150 of these pups
scattered throughout property and would be nuts going to
each one individually. (prob a winterm question but
figured i'd ask) Thanks!
