I defragmented my hard drive. I restarted my computer
(xp home) and it would not let me log on. An error
message appeared and a temporary user was created. All
my info is there but can not log on correctly when i
restart. I tried to restore to an earlier point but the
application won't run. Can this be fixed

You have a corrupted profile. If you have another admin account
available, log into that account and you'll have to create a new user.
Log out and log in the new user account and immediately log out and log
back in the administrator account. Once done, you'll need to copy the
original user's profile to the new user's profile. Log out and then log
in the new user's account which should work using the profile data from
the original user account that was corrupted.
