temporary isp?

I could be wrong-but I thought I saw somewhere once where if you want to sign
up for 56k isp- there was a temporary number/isp that could be used till
sign-up-I dont know if it was through microsoft or what-anybody?

I've never heard of that. Pick an ISP that you want and get their
installation software from another computer (burn to cd-r) or call them
and have them send you an installation cd.

No software required here: http://www.spininternet.com/
Google produces several 56k dialup with no software required.

I would never recommed using any software from an ISP.
Why would one need a CD to enter a phone number or two????
