Temporary Internet Files

Does anyone know why during a Norton 2005 scan it picks up files under the
following path C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local
Settings\Temp\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\

We have deleted all files and folders under Content.IE5 but Norton continues
to hang during scanning of .htm and .jpg files in the Content.IE5 folder
which are not even there.

Example of file: CAUD25C9.htm

Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Sanjay

Content.IE5 is a Hidden System folder.

Empty the Content.IE5 folder before running Norton 2005.

You do not have to *see* the Content.IE5 folder to delete its contents.

To delete *all* of "username" Temporary Internet Files...

1) Start | Run | Type: inetcpl.cpl | OK
Or right click the Internet Explorer icon on your Desktop.
Or: Start | Settings | Control Panel | Internet Options.
Best to do this with all instances of Internet Explorer closed. Especially
if there are a large number of files.
2) On the General Tab, in the middle of the screen, click on Delete Files
3) Check the box Delete all offline content {This cleans >>
%homepath%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
AND
%homepath%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5
and \Content.MSO (Created by an MS Office program)}
4) Click on OK and wait for the hourglass icon to stop after it deletes the
temporary internet files
5) You can now click on Delete Cookies and click OK to delete cookies that
websites have placed on your hard drive.

To see if everything is cleaned out, except for the index.dat file...

Start | Run | Paste this in the box and click OK:

%homepath%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5

There will be more than one Content.IE5 folder on your machine, even with
just one user.

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temporary Internet
Files\Content.IE5
C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Local Settings\Temporary Internet
Files\Content.IE5
C:\Documents and Settings\LocalService\Local Settings\Temporary Internet
Files\Content.IE5
C:\Documents and Settings\NetworkService\Local Settings\Temporary Internet
Files\Content.IE5
C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Local Settings\Temporary Internet
Files\Content.IE5

Hope this helps. Let us know.
