files"... it says "virus has been found and the file has
been disinfected".That's came up a couple of times.
My Question... when i went into "temporary internet
files" All the Cookies it had was unreal.Do i have to
keep them, if i delete them will it muck up my
computer... i know in tools/internet options/general you
can delete the temporary internet files "ive been doing
that" but im too scared to delete the cookies incase i
muck something up.

Very grateful for any info

The word "cookies" offers the clue you need. Like real cookies they are there
simply to be consumed and not kept. Cookies are used for many many different
things but you can safely delete all of them as well as any temp files you
have. Free programs like MRUBlaster can help you with the cleanup. There are
many many free programs like this out there. I use Window Washer personally.
But it isn't free.

It should be no problem to delete the cookies on your machine. The only
adverse affect is if you enjoy being remembered by certain sites. For
example, MyYahoo.com. If you personalize the site and have a user name and
password, every time you visit that site the data in the cookie will
automatically log you in. Once you delete all the cookies, this
functionality will cease because now the site does not know who you are. The
cookie crumbled so to speak. This would apply to all sites that you visit
that remember who you are.

You can delete the cookies. Cookies are small text files that are really
just preferences. I routinely clean them out of my systems and my
clients' systems. The only effect will be that if you have sites where
you must log on (like Amazon.com for instance), you'll need to reenter
your username and password again the first time.
