Temporarily removing hardware

I have connected my laptop (Windows XP) with my old desktop via the
GeneLink File transfer. Now at the taskbar tray there is a "Safely
Remove Hardware" icon. I may want to disconnect the GeneLink, but then I
may want to reconnect it again. What will happen if I just unplug the
USB cable and plug it again when I need it?

This is normal, when you plug your usb connection back in it will reconnect
your laptop and the remove hardware icon will reappear.
No worrys.
