Templates

We work with Word XP, on Win2000.

Our templates were created in Word 97. Fillin fields are
used to allow prompt boxes to alert users on what
information needs to be entered. There are also autotext
entries saved to the templates.

I recently updated a number of autotext entries. In doing
so, the entries looked at "all active templates". These
templates were then transferred to the network for
corporate use. Now the prompt boxes do not appear, and
some of the autotext entries have reverted back to the
previous content.

I'm going slightly nuts !! Has anyone had similar
experiences????

When the box is set to "all active templates", new and modified
entries will be saved to Normal.dot, *not* the template attached to
the document. You must explicitly select the template -- other than
Normal.dot -- if you want the entry to be saved there.

Thanks Jay !!
One of the templates doesn't allow us to "look in" that
template name only. We've decided to recreate them from
scratch to hopefully eliminate any other problems that
have carried over from version to version. That way I'll
ensure we can select to "look in" only the specific
template name, and not normal.dot.
