Can anyone tell me how to reach templates in Word that have been set up under
one of the users on windows xp professional. We are having trouble with the
account that has the templates and I wish to move them to another account,
but on opening Word in any other account the templates don't seem to be there
... i have searched for them using either templates as the key word or even
using the titles of the templates eg, 'risk assessment' but it says there is
nothing on the system .. are they kept in a secret place? .. any help would
be much appreciated, thanks in advance :)

The templates will be in the folder of the user that created/installed them.
The default path for the templates in XP is:
C:\Documents and Settings/<user>\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates.

Open Windows Explorer to access this folder. If the users account that
created the templates is no longer available or corrupt, you may need to
Take Ownership of the users folders before you can access them. To do this
follow the steps in this article.

You can also transfer that users files and settings to a new account.
