Templates and Page Numbering

Hello,

I've recently made a template with multiple sections to allow the user to input large amounts of text where necessary. I was just curious how to force headers/footers to override the sections. For example, I want the following header:

=txtClient
Page X of Y

on every page but the first. For some reason, the sections seem to cause me grief, even if I have the "whole document" option selected. For example, the first page header prints across multiple pages, etc.

Thanks,

Vel

I'm not convinced you need section breaks, but if you are using a First Page
Header, then it will appear on the first page of every section unless you
(a) disable that option for every section but the first or (b) unlink
Section 2 from Section 1 and delete the text from the First Page Header in
Section 2.

Thanks for the reply. I figured out that I could just change the very first section to "different first page" and leave the rest unchecked in order to keep my numbering on every page but the first. Also, regarding the section breaks, the people who I designed the template for specifically requested to be able to be able to format the long blocks of text (which can rarely span multiple pages depending on the client responses). That's why I used the section breaks as described in an article about designing templates in word

Thanks Again
