template pages

I have been sent a Word Template, but cannot get the page numbers to print
correctly. Instead of printing: Page 1 of 8, Page 2 of 8, Page 3 of 8, etc.
They print: Page 1 of 1, Page 2 of 2, Page 3 of 3, etc. up to Page 8 of 8.
I am using Word 2000 and have not been able to correcct the problem.
