Temp Folders - Deleting

A program called Musicmatch had a glitch in its latest version and created
an issue that required its remove and reinstallation. I didn't put it on my
machine, I've never used it prior to pushing the button that cause the
recommended upgrade, and I don't intend reinstalling it. Once burned...
twice shy.

I came to that part of the instructions that is telling me to "Delete the
files and folders in the Temp directory". The example of where I'll find
that is C;\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Temp. I've opened that
and found about 50+ folders, none of which appear to have a thing to do with
Musicmatch ... but I'm far from one who'd really know. When I saw all those
files - some of which have nothing but numbers as their names - I hesitated.
In fact... I've stopped dead in my tracks until I get a confirmation here
from someone who knows all about Windows Temp folders and files.

I assume those instructions mean I'm supposed to highlight just the folders
and files I find in the Temp folder or directory and NOT the Temp folder
itself. I believe I should empty its contents completely and leave nothing
but an empty folder labeled "Temp". Correct?

You can safely delete what ever is in the temp folder, do not actually delete
the temp folder just its contents.

Hope that helps ?

The temp folder can (and maybe should) be cleaned out periodically. The OS
and various programs use this folder to store temporary files that they may
need. Sometimes they are cleaned up automagically, but many are left behind
as junk. If you try to delete something that is in use, Windows will tell
you. To be safe - reboot your machine first. Some may be needed to complete
an installation or uninstallation for a program. Or perhaps just leave
anything that is newer than 1 week or so.
