Erring on the safe side you can delete all the files in that TEMP
folder - leave the subfolders alone unless you know why you are
deleting them.

Yes, those files can and should be deleted. Those temp folders are, BTW,
one of the prime areas for spyware and trojans to launch from. You
aren't seeing the hidden content.ie5 folder and subfolders in the \Temporary
Internet Files folder.

Oh, and IE doesn't always delete all the files when you tell it to.

I would suggest Crap Cleaner:

www.ccleaner.com

it will take care of temporary files and the Temporary Internet Files.

I've been having great results with this. Let it put the context shortcut on
the recycle bin, open and configure the files you want it to keep, run it
once, and after that just right click on the recycle bin and chose Run
Ccleaner. Quick and easy; make a habit of it.

What a name !!

I initially thought it meant "Crap Cleaner", ie. useless, as
opposed to a "Cleaner of Crap" !!

:)

Thxs. Pa,
I truly believed that the contents of this temp fldr. was **safe** to
delete.... I have deleted the contents in the C:\windows\temp fldr. however
I was surprised to have uninstall info, etc... in this fldr. I just deleted
mine, however I haven't emptied the trash. Many files have the read only
attribute, etc... and many, Windows doesn't want to delete, but I deleted
them because I know they are not needed on the next boot.

Appears, Windows will put the files back... tricky after you close the
folder !!

So, W-XP **would never** let any needed system file be deleted, correct ??

After rebooting, you can safely choose to delete everything in
C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Local Settings\Temp. Windows won't
allow you to delete anything needed during the current boot.
