It could be the web cache: Close FrontPage, and do a Find | Files and Folders | Named *.web, and delete them.

Using FrontPage 98 on Win 98SE.

I have been updating a site by going live on the server. Much of the
updating is by importing directly to the server from my computer copy of the
site on my C drive. Over a period the process has slowed down from when I
started. Is it possible there is a temporary files folder on the server,
like the temp folder in FrontPage on my C drive?

I do keep my internet temp and FrontPage temp folders cleaned up.

Thanks Kathleen,

I looked at the cache files. Surprisingly, they only contained some Xara
files (my graphics editor) and only totaled 56kb.

When you work live on the server with FP, FP uses the tmp location on your
PC, not on the server.

Not your browser cache
1) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all FP Temp Files
2) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all hidden *.web files

When you work directly on the remote serve, FP is using you local FP temp
folder for every page that you open and save, etc.

At 72 MB, you really should consider breaking your site into small subweb
sections, which will speed up site maintenance overall.

Thanks to all who answered on this problem. I have tried all the fixes.
There were no large folder of files anywhere. It may be just the process of
the program going through the large number of files on the site. It is about
72 megs. I may be unrealistically expecting it to work as fast directly on
the server, as it does on my computer copy.

Thanks again. I always get good answers from this group and really
appreciate it.

I realize I should have planned the 72 Meg site differently. I also have to
admit that the sub web process is intimidating to me. I just can't get the
"how to" to register in this tired old brain.
