Telephone switches computer on when idle

Could anyone tell me how to stop my computer from
switching on when my house phone rings. I have broadband
connections and i have windows xp
installed........thanx

Some computers have a feature called "Wake on Ring" to allow a phone
call to start them up, presumably because the computer runs answering
machine or fax machine software. There should be a setting in the
computer's BIOS setup program to disable that feature.
