Telephone Number Format Change in Outlook 2000

G

Guest

For years I have been using Outlook Contacts. When Phone numbers are entered, regardless of the format, Outlook converted the numbers into a (404) 999-9999 format and a standard font. Now, for some reason, my installation of Outlook 2000 no longer changes the t/n into that format and font. It accepts any format unchanged. I would very muck like to have it continue to with the original formatting, but I have not been able to discover any way to chenge it. Anyone got any ideas??

See if your dialing location is set correctly.
If it is, Outlook will mask phone numbers automatically.

Russ,

I suspect you are on the right track, but I don't know how to do what you suggested. I looked at setting up the dialer, but that doesn't fix my problem. Some of the problem may be caused by Atlanta having 3 area codes. 10 digits must be dialed to reach any loocal number.

Hi Russ,

I'm not sure of how to set my default dialing location correctly? Can you

Russ,

Is there a quick way to convert all the numbers that weren't masked because
of the incorrect setting?

so, I have to go into every phone number in my address book that's not masked
and open the number (which it's then masked as a 1+ number) and remove the 1+
and spaces. Is that sound right? I have probably about 500 numbers that are
like that, so I'd like to know if there is a more efficient way to do this.

Most people export to Excel, make the change there and then reimport. Or
they use one of the techniques here:

I am using Outlook 2007. The auto-format feature xxxxxxxxxx to (xxx)
xxx-xxxx was working fine. Then suddenly it stopped. My location and area
code are set properly. I did not add any new software (other than Microsoft
Windows auto-update). I have tried everything to get the feature to work
again, and everything has failed.

Where do I find "Autodialer?" It's not in Outlook 2007. I am using Windows
XP Pro and I cannot find it there either.

RESOLUTION:
Click AutoDialer, and then click Dialing Properties.
2. In the I am dialing from section, click Remove. Repeat this step to
remove all dialing properties locations.
3. Click New, type the country or region and area code that you want, make
any other changes that are necessary for your location, and then click OK.
